Strange weather drifted our way on Tuesday

We were working on the antenna up the hill on Tuesday. I took a few pictures of the strange weather that drifted in. It was clear where we were at but there was a fog/mist drifting in from the southeast over the ice.

Observation Hill looks spooky.

The 10 meter antenna radome. Associated equipment in the green building.

A distant Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) antenna radome.

The sun is beginning to set.

Mt. Erebus spewing a little smoke.

Ob Hill cutting the mist.
Friday morning a few hours ago. Inside the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) radome. It is -40 degrees outside and about the same inside.

It looks like the door needs a new seal.

Filling the van. Where's the sun? It's 9am but the sun doesn't rise until 9:45. and then sets at 4pm.

  2. Thanks Janice and Charlie. Nice to hear from you. Once the night settles on us 24 hours a day the town has a big showing of Kurt Russel's "The Thing". Parts of it were filmed here. Looking forward to that. I immediately thought of "The Fog" movie when I took that picture.
