Around Town, Work, and a First Sunset and Sunrise

The S-Band and X-Band boresite antennas for testing of the 10 meter dish (the golf ball in the distance to the left)

The boresite antennas.

The dome for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Antenna. An environmental satellite system.

The antenna inside.

Wind turbines for the 1 megawatt wind farm that supplies 20% of McMurdo's and Scott's Kiwi Stations power saving 125,000 gallons of diesel per year.

Part of the High Frequency (HF) communications transmission field.

Three golf balls.

Snow blowing down below.

White-out conditions.

Scott Station - Kiwi camp.

Snowing again.

Crary Science Center. Lots of cool stuff inside.

Observation Hill. The most climbed hill in Antarctica.

Ship still offloading.

The Army made the causeway and the Navy is offloading.

The Coffee House - one of three bars. An old Navy Quonset hut. My work station is directly behind it.

After hours entertainment - Married with Children episode.

The sun set for the first time this morning. This was taken at 10 p.m.

Cool clouds.

Everything is so bright around here.

The season's first sunset at 1:15 a.m..

Sunrise followed a little later at 3 a.m. Sun is too far to the left for viewing. This was taken from my room and it was blowing 30 knots outside so I wisely stayed in. Fascinating world!
